Congressional candidates Jim Tedisco and Scott Murphy have run both positive and negative ads on their own behalf, but their political allies have concentrated on the dark side. The most important of those allies are the Republican and Democratic congressional campaign committees, which have fueled a high proportion of the negative advertising in this race. People complain about that, but political insiders more or less accept it as inevitable, although occasionally finding time to debunk one ad or another. But it's really an odd and disgusting situation. There does not seem to be any real scandal in the lives of either Tedisco or Murphy, but the parties that run the House of Representatives are trying to persuade you there is. The DCCC and NRCC have not put forward any ideas about how to fix the economy, fight terrorism, reform education or anything else. Instead, they have devoted all their energies and money to a campaign of distortion and character assassination, cheered on by the largely partisan blogosphere. And no one holds party leaders accountable for this debasement of democracy.
A great example of why there's so much desire out there for people from outside those same two parties.

Great article on the race up on ParcBench. From what I can tell, it's a Rollingstone for the right.

Obama ignored Scott Murphy when he found out about 3 in 1 package. Let's see if the times union does it's job and asks Murphy about this.
