It looks like Kateri Tekakwitha will be the first American Indian saint. This is, among other things, big news for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, where Kateri, a 17th century Mohawk, has strong connections to both the Auriesville Shrine on the south side of the Mohawk River in Montgomery County, and to what is now her own shrine west of Fonda on the other side of the river. It's also big news for Jake Finkbonner.
Update: Re Finkbonner and the Lily of the Mohawks, Vatican practice is not to say whether any particular miracle is confirmed.
