The state is moving to take over the Luther Forest Technology Campus from an affiliate of Saratoga Economic Development Corp.. This is purportedly to protect the GlobalFoundries computer chip plant project, which is receiving a $1.3 billion state subsidy. I took a tour of the plant at an open house today, and construction company workers seemed confident not only that this plant will get built, but that at least one more GlobalFoundries chip fab tentatively planned for the campus will in fact be constructed in the next few years, after they build one in Abu Dhabi. Maybe there have been some infrastructure delays, but construction of the plant itself seems to be on track.
I read Robin Cooper's story too. I was psyched! I have already applied at GlobalFoundries for an advertised position. Now that the state is going to save the company from the economic development commission, I stand a chance of getting in. The down side is that by the time the facility is up and running, I am going to be thinking about retiring. hahahahahaha. heheheehheeheee. thinking about retiring, yes. but it is unlikely that I will be able to retire until I am finally so decrepit that I have to be stored in a "nursing" home until my expiration date comes up.

This really feels like the state is chasing after bad money.
Its not enough to give them sweetheart deals & tax breaks, the state can't even hire people to construct the bloody place & get it finished on time. They have to spend yet more money taking command & in doing it themselves.
Everything about this deal should be heavily investigated by someone when it finally gets done.
