Disappointing. But the Conservatives have never been a real party anyways, only a faction of the Republicans (like the WFP and Dems)... so this is logical.

Conservatives are sometimes a real party, as when they elected William F. Buckley's brother to the U.S. Senate against Republicrats (to use your term), and still with Doug Hoffman in North Country congressional district. And didn't WFP elect Soares DA against the Albany Democratic machine guy?

Bob, that's exactly my point. Soares is a registered Democrat and Hoffman a registered Republican. The Conservatives and WFP are factions of major parties because they pretty much only ever endorse major party candidates. At least that's current practice.
Buckley's brother may have actually been a registered Conservative... but that was back in 1970.
